Digital arrest call

What it looks like

• A call or video call says you are linked to a crime, a parcel with drugs, or a case. The caller says police, CBI, customs or TRAI.
• They say you are under digital arrest, must stay on camera and tell nobody.
• They ask you to send money to a safe account to clear your name.

What to do

1. Hang up right away. You do not have to stay on the call.
2. Tell a family member or a friend you trust, even if the caller said not to.
3. Do not send any money. Report the number on Chakshu (Sanchar Saathi).

If you already did it

If money has moved, call 1930 at once and tell your bank. Do not delete the messages, numbers or screenshots, they are evidence. Then report at cybercrime.gov.in.

For children

If someone on a call says a grown-up in your family is in trouble and asks for money, do not believe it. Tell a grown-up.

यह कैसा दिखता है

• कॉल या वीडियो कॉल पर कहा जाता है कि आप किसी अपराध, ड्रग्स वाले पार्सल या केस में फँसे हैं। बोलने वाला खुद को पुलिस, CBI, कस्टम या TRAI का बताता है।
• वे कहते हैं कि आप डिजिटल अरेस्ट में हैं, कैमरे के सामने रहना है और किसी को बताना नहीं है।
• वे नाम साफ़ करने के लिए किसी सेफ़ अकाउंट में पैसे भेजने को कहते हैं।

क्या करें

1. तुरंत कॉल काट दें। आपको कॉल पर रुकना ज़रूरी नहीं है।
2. किसी घरवाले या भरोसेमंद दोस्त को बताएँ, चाहे कॉल करने वाले ने मना किया हो।
3. कोई पैसा न भेजें। नंबर की रिपोर्ट चक्षु (संचार साथी) पर करें।

अगर आप ऐसा कर चुके हैं

अगर पैसे कट गए हैं, तो तुरंत 1930 पर कॉल करें और अपने बैंक को बताएँ। मैसेज, नंबर और स्क्रीनशॉट डिलीट न करें, ये सबूत हैं। फिर cybercrime.gov.in पर शिकायत करें।

बच्चों के लिए

अगर कॉल पर कोई कहे कि आपके घर के किसी बड़े पर मुसीबत है और पैसे माँगे, तो मत मानो। किसी बड़े को बताओ।
