OTP and PIN theft
English first, Hindi below.
What it looks like
- Someone calls as your bank, a delivery person or an office and asks for the code you just got.
- They sound in a hurry and say your money or account is in danger.
- They may already know your name, which makes it feel real.
What to do
- Never say the OTP, PIN or CVV to anyone, even if they say they are from the bank.
- Hang up. Call the number on the back of your card.
- If the code came when you did nothing, tell your bank.
If you already did it
If money has moved, call 1930 at once and tell your bank. Do not delete the messages, numbers or screenshots, they are evidence. Then report at cybercrime.gov.in.
Remember: A bank never asks for your OTP, PIN or CVV.
For children
Secret codes are only for you and your family. Never tell a code to anyone who asks. Tell a grown-up.
फिर cybercrime.gov.in पर शिकायत करें।
Helplines: call 1930, report at cybercrime.gov.in, or report a call or message on Chakshu (Sanchar Saathi).
