Photo and video blackmail

What it looks like

• Someone you only know online asks for private photos or a video call, or sends some first.
• Later they threaten to share the pictures with your family or friends unless you pay.
• It can happen to anyone, and it is never your fault.

What to do

1. Do not pay and do not send more pictures. Paying usually brings more demands.
2. Stop replying, but keep the chat and screenshots. Block the person afterwards.
3. Tell a trusted adult. For a child, Childline 1098 is free and can help.

If you already did it

If money was paid, call 1930 at once and tell your bank. Do not delete the chat, numbers or screenshots, they are evidence. Report at cybercrime.gov.in. A child can call Childline 1098.

For children

If someone online asks for private pictures or scares you, you are not in trouble. Stop talking to them. Tell a grown-up, or call Childline 1098. Tell a grown-up.

2. जवाब देना बंद करें, लेकिन चैट और स्क्रीनशॉट रखें। बाद में उस व्यक्ति को ब्लॉक करें।
3. किसी भरोसेमंद बड़े को बताएँ। बच्चे के लिए चाइल्डलाइन 1098 मुफ़्त है और मदद कर सकती है।

अगर आप ऐसा कर चुके हैं

अगर पैसे दे दिए हैं, तो तुरंत 1930 पर कॉल करें और बैंक को बताएँ। चैट, नंबर और स्क्रीनशॉट डिलीट न करें, ये सबूत हैं। cybercrime.gov.in पर शिकायत करें। बच्चा चाइल्डलाइन 1098 पर कॉल कर सकता है।

बच्चों के लिए

अगर ऑनलाइन कोई निजी फ़ोटो माँगे या डराए, तो तुम मुसीबत में नहीं हो। उससे बात करना बंद कर दो। चाइल्डलाइन 1098 पर कॉल कर सकते हो। किसी बड़े को बताओ।
